Our project on Barkly St involved transforming a basement into a music room within a building with a history spanning over 120 years. As the building didn’t align with current building codes, we implemented engineering solutions to bring the structure up to standard.
By reinforcing a beam in the basement, we were able to create an atmospheric music room characterised by its rich, mid-century hues and retro feel.
We added a fresh ventilation system designed to bring in outdoor air, improving overall comfort.
During the design phase, the designer Paloma faced the challenge of integrating the pre-existing blue stone walls. Our talented joiners meticulously carved the joinery to follow the contours of the blue stone, seamlessly integrating these layers of texture that enhance the warm and inviting atmosphere of this stunning music room.
