Lasting materials, specified functionality & design paired with lifestyle steal the spotlight in this family home
With clients who are balancing life as new parents while working from home, the functionality of this Northcote residence was crucial. Previously, a home full of dark spaces and an unoptimised layout, the client brief was simple – a minimal design with a soft and warm palette.
This was achieved with a refined blend of European Oak engineered flooring, natural stone benchtops and additional natural light flooding the open space. The improved functionality of the kitchen is a real asset to this home with an oversized benchtop, a hidden butler’s pantry and a wine fridge tucked in the corner – all essential additions for new parents. Backing onto the kitchen, the living area’s 2400mm tall stacker doors seamlessly connect the outdoor zones creating the ultimate entertaining area.
The clean, crisp palette carries seamlessly into the laundry, study and powder room without feeling ‘matchy-matchy’. A small amount of colour was injected into the powder room through Nood Co’s Powder Blue Wall Hung Basin. While a white and timber pallet creates a connection between the laundry and the home office. Both spaces have an improved layout and additional natural light through an oversized window and skylight. These rooms include small thought-out details unique to our clients such as the hidden under seat storage in the study and a discrete cat door in the laundry leading to a hidden kitty litter for our client’s furry family members.
This thoughtfully designed home with natural materials has lifted a once dark and dreary space into a light and bright family retreat that exhibits cool and calming energy.
