Our Queen Street project is full of colour and character with a slight mid century modern influence. The clients really wanted a kitchen that was functional, aesthetically pleasing and a space where they can entertain. They didn’t want the space to feel like it had just been freshly built or renovated. They wanted it to feel connected to the rest of their home and tie in with the existing pieces they’ve collected over the years.
To achieve the brief, careful consideration went into the material palette, configuration of the kitchen and the way the spaces connected with the outdoor area of the home. It was music to our designers ears when the clients said they wanted to incorporate colour into the kitchen. Keeping in tune with the clients existing furniture colours, a combination of navy blue, hues of green and walnut were incorporated. The natural stone mosaic splashback from National Tiles added a sense of texture and visual interest to the kitchen.
The V-groove cladding over the rangehood and pendant light was custom made so that the colours both match perfectly together. While the kitchen may be full of colour, the laundry/galley was kept simple with white cabinetry and stone for the bench top. The existing led-light window was replaced with a new one that incorporated the navy and green colours in the detailing. This type of attention to detail sums up our Queen St project and it’s testament to how custom designing your space can pay off.
